God
is our Perfect Father, who provides for our needs, protects us, forgives
us, and loves us unconditionally.
We have
a lot of misconceptions about God. Many see Him as a severe disciplinarian,
only concerned about keeping people in line. Others see Him as someone
too great and far away to care about "insignificant" humans.
But
in the Bible, God has revealed himself to us as a loving and perfect
Father. Parents have been charged to love their children as God the
Father loves all people.
The
reality is, for some people, when we think of God as Father, it brings
up images of our own parents. I'm not sure if that is a good memory
or not. I heard a pastor mention this once. "Don't measure God
by your earthly father, rather measure your earthly father by God
our Perfect Father". The truth is, our Heavenly Father cares
for us better than any earthly father, or mother could. Children aren't
perfect. Parents aren't perfect. We need a perfect Father to look
to for guidance, acceptance, forgiveness, and love.
